Two questions dominate every thread about ArtCraft AI right now. Here are straight answers, no hype.
The ArtCraft desktop app and all seven Crafting Apps (PhotoCraft, VectorCraft, FilmCraft, LightCraft, PrintCraft, EffectCraft, DesignCraft) are free to download and use, process files locally, and have no accounts, license servers or mandatory subscriptions.
Rendering with hosted AI models costs credits. You can also bring your own API keys and pay providers directly. Editing never costs anything — only generating does.
Media coverage calls ArtCraft "open source", and the source is indeed public. But the main app's license is a custom one: it permits personal use, copying and modification, while forbidding reselling ArtCraft or using its code to build a competing product. The seven Crafting Apps are published as free software. For normal users this changes nothing — just don't build a business on the code without reading the license.
Yes, when downloaded from getartcraft.com or the official GitHub releases page. The source code is publicly auditable. Never download from third-party portals that repack installers.
No. The official build has no ads and no bundled software. The project is funded by optional subscriptions and AI generation credits.
The source code is publicly available for inspection, personal use and modification. Note the main app's license is custom rather than a standard OSI license — it forbids reselling ArtCraft or building a competing commercial product from its code. The Crafting Apps are published as free software. Read the license on GitHub before commercial use.
Local editing in the Crafting Apps needs no account at all. AI generation requires credits, which implies a payment flow on the official site.
