ArtCraft pricing: what is free, what costs money

ArtCraft's model is simple once you see the split: the tools are free, the AI generation is metered. Here is the honest breakdown.

How credits work

When you hit generate on a scene, the hosted model you picked (Sora, Veo, Kling, Nano Banana, FLUX…) does the compute, and that compute is billed in credits. Bigger, newer models cost more per generation; drafting with cheaper models costs less. Exact credit prices change as the catalog evolves — check the official site for current rates.

Three ways to pay for generation

Casual

Buy credits

Top up when you need to render. Best if you generate occasionally.

Regular

Subscribe

Optional subscription that bundles credits and funds development. You can cancel and keep using the app.

Power user

BYOK

Paste your own API keys and pay providers directly at their rates. Maximum control, no markup.

What it means vs an Adobe subscription

Adobe Creative Cloud is a fixed monthly fee whether you create or not. ArtCraft flips this: creating and editing is free; you only pay when AI renders for you. For many hobbyists, a month of ArtCraft costs close to $0 — the seven Crafting Apps alone cover everyday photo, video, PDF and layout work at no charge.

Bottom line: download it, build scenes, use the Crafting Apps — all free. Budget a few dollars of credits when you want hosted AI models to render final shots.

Frequently asked questions

Is ArtCraft really free?

The desktop app and all seven Crafting Apps are free. You only pay when you generate media with hosted AI models — that costs credits, which you buy or get via a subscription.

Can I use ArtCraft without a subscription?

Yes. Subscriptions are optional. You can buy credits as needed, or bring your own API keys from third-party model providers and pay them directly.

What does 'bring your own key' (BYOK) mean?

Instead of buying ArtCraft credits, you paste an API key from a provider you already pay (for example a video or image model provider), and ArtCraft routes generation through your own account.

Are the Crafting Apps (PhotoCraft etc.) free forever?

Yes — the seven local apps are free, process files on your own machine, and have no subscriptions, license servers or accounts.
